International Postgraduate Scholarships, University of Birmingham, UK

To award outstanding achievement, we are pleased to offer a number of international postgraduate scholarships.What we are offering
In 2013/14, the University of Birmingham is offering 18 International Postgraduate Scholarships worth £10,000 towards the cost of a one year Masters (Taught or Research) programme. These awards are intended for tuition fees only and cannot be used towards living expenses.
Who we are looking for
Applicants must have an excellent academic background; due to the level of competition for these scholarships, only applicants with a first class Bachelors degree (or equivalent) will be considered.
Applicants must also demonstrate excellence in an area of their life; this might be outstanding academic achievement, exceptional achievement in extra curricular activities (such as sport, music, managing events or societies) or significant achievement gained either in their working life or through volunteering and service to others.
Applicants must also outline the contribution they will make to the University of Birmingham as a student and what they expect to gain from studying here.
Eligibility
In order to apply candidates must:
  • have been offered a place to study on an eligible one year Masters programme at the University of Birmingham;
  • be overseas for fee purposes;
  • be attending full-time and on-campus (not distance learning);
  • have a valid student ID number;
  • not be in receipt of a full fee scholarship from any other source;
  • have made adequate financial provision to study in the UK (including any associated visa/travel expenses);
  • be able to pay any outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.

Who is eligible?
SABIC offers a scholarship to a talented master’s student, who has been admitted to one of the master’s programmes of the School of Business and Economics starting in September 2013. Candidates applying for this scholarship should have interest in the chemicals industry and B-to-b markets. Preffered education areas are supply chain management, business administration, chemical engineering, finance, HR and communications..
Candidates must have met all requirements of the application procedure. The scholarship is meant as a contribution to the living expenses for a maximum period of 12 months. SABIC has affiliates and offices in 40 different countries (see official website). Nationals from these countries are preferred.
Applicants must meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa for the Netherlands.
Scholarship
The scholarship is a contribution to the living expenses for the duration of the master’s programme at Maastricht University with a maximum of 12 months.
Sabic Europe scholarship 2012-2013
  • Allowance per month, € 800, arranged and paid by the Scholarship Office
  • Health and liability insurance, € 500, Arranged and paid by the Scholarship Office
  • Visa costs, € 600, Paid by the Scholarship Office

The deadline for submitting a scholarship application is 1 March 2013. In order to be eligible for a scholarship, you need to be admitted to a master’s programme. This means that we need a complete file, for the Msc programme also, before 1 March 2013.
Therefore we advise students to take the gmat- or gre, Toefl/Ielts test before 10th February. Please include your scholarship application in your master’s application and upload this document in the category ‘Apply for Scholarship’ in My UM. We will not be able to  take your application into consideration if we receive it via regular mail or e-mail.
The Faculty will rank the scholarship candidates. The Maastricht University Scholarship Committee and SABIC Europe will make the final decision. Applicants will be informed about the selection outcome mid April.
For the scholarship assessment, the Scholarship Committee takes all elements of the application into account, including the level of previous study programmes, academic excellence, motivation, status of the home institution, the connection with the prior study programme, future career plans and the references.

Requirements of Eligible Applicants
  • Applicants must be undergraduate students at an accredited university in an ASEAN country except Thailand.
  • Applicants must be a citizen of an ASEAN member country
  • All ASEAN students studying in Thailand are ineligible to apply.

  • The grant will cover only the first semester of 2013 (August to December 2013).
    * Combined total of numbers one and two is equivalent to 133,000 baht.

Scholarship for MA in Media Practice for International Development, University of Sussex, UK

The School of Media, Film and Music is delighted to offer a £5,000 scholarship to UK/HEU and non EU students who have been accepted on the MA in Media Practice for International Development, starting in September 2013.
The scholarship is offered as a reduction in tuition fees of £5,000 and will be awarded to the student who possesses the highest academic ability and potential (not made on the basis of financial need).

International Scholarships for Taught Masters Students, University of Kent, UK

The University has a long tradition of welcoming international students from around the world and is pleased to be able to offer a number of scholarships for entry at taught masters level.The scholarships will be worth £5000 (for one year of study) towards the cost of tuition fees and are offered to nationals of any country paying international fees.
ELIGIBILITY
  • Applicants for postgraduate taught study at the University of Kent may ask to be considered for one of the University’s International Scholarships.
  • In order to be eligible for consideration for a scholarship, all of the conditions 1 to 3 below must have been satisfied:
    1. an application must have been made for a degree course at the University of Kent.
    2. the applicant must have received an unconditional offer of a place on such a degree course.
    3. the University must have received confirmation of the applicant’s acceptance of the offer.

At the point of application for the scholarship, you are asked to submit an original essay of between 750 to 1,000 words on the topic: “Why have you chosen your selected postgraduate taught degree programme; why have you applied to the University of Kent; and how do you see your degree at Kent preparing you for your life after graduation“.
